but how about that one time . . .

in AP biology class when gwen embarrassed herself at the board?

as everyone cleaned up their lab materials and started gathering their belongings, mrs. campbell had gwen write the next day's experiment on the board. it had something to do with fruit flies.

so, gwen's writing in her big, bubbly letters and she gets to the word "fruit".

she paused for a second, and then put an "e" on the end of the word, with her voice rising in a curious tone.

i laughed at her, completely oblivious to her public shame.

A man is recovering at George Washington Hospital after collapsing in a restaurant while waiting on his lunch order.

Paramedics were called to Nooshi Restaurant in the 1100 block of M St. NW at approximately 1:30 PM. When they arrived, Jamal Smith, 27, lay motionless on the floor, surrounded by oolong tea leaves, clutching his receipt. Patrons say that Smith appeared extremely distressed before his collapse.

"I was sitting next to him the entire time," said Ellen Domerby, another restaurant patron. "I saw him looking up pictures of food on his phone, glancing at the cashiers every few seconds. He was also trying to drown out sounds of his stomach growling by tapping his foot."

When Jamal was left waiting after the promised 15 minute preparation time, he attempted to stand in protest. However, his body was so weak with hunger that he stumbled forward, grabbing shelves of dried peas, rice noodles, and tea on his way to the floor.

Smith alleges that his embarrassing fall could have been prevented if Nooshi simply paid attention to the simplicity of his dish.

"It's just beef Mee Goreng," Smith said. "I order it all the time and it's never taken this long. I saw people who didn't order ahead, walking out with twice as much food as me. That's just not right."

Smith is expected to make a full recovery, and surprisingly, plans to eat at Nooshi for lunch tomorrow. The next time, he says, he'll have a small snack 30 minutes before walking to the restaurant.

Nooshi employees were not available for comment.
